Some objects do not decorate a table so much as sit on it like a small character. This one arrives with a face already made up its mind: calm, closed-eyed, quietly amused.

Design Story

The dominant form is the pumpkin itself — a rounded, ribbed body in warm amber and rust, its vertical grooves pulling the eye from the scalloped rim down to a flared base. At distance you read the face: two crescent eyes, a small triangular nose, and a long stitched smile drawn in flat black line. Up close, the stitching repeats as tiny crosses beside each cheek, a restrained detail that keeps the expression from tipping into cartoon. Colour hierarchy is simple and deliberate — orange body, black linework, and a single cool green interruption where the curling stem-shaped handle meets the body, punctuated by a raised-looking maple leaf in the same autumn palette. Warm and cool sit against each other exactly once, and that restraint is what holds the composition together.

Use & Styling

The face occupies the full front-facing focal area, centred and low, so the scalloped rim reads as empty space above it. The sculpted-looking silhouette carries the design rather than a printed panel, and the leaf motif marks the handle-side boundary instead of competing with the smile. On a shelf or tabletop it works as a small seasonal figure, legible from across a room.
